In Memoriam – Salvador Minuchin

It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that Salvador Minuchin died on October 29th in Florida where he lived. Our field has an extraordinary debt with him, a person who helped create, develop and continuously nourish family therapy from the time he was a young psychiatrist to his death at 96. He was indefatigable in his dedication, concern and deep love for families, family therapy, and for all the students he helped form as a superlative teacher.
His legacy to all of us is enormous, through many books, the videos and transcripts of his masterful interviews, and the many conferences he gave where the clarity of his teaching always shone through.
Many of us will deeply miss his intellectual acuity, his humor and most all his passionate vitality for our field.
