Our Mission

The Argyle is a non-profit centre for psychotherapy and education with the dual purpose of providing accessible and affordable psychotherapeutic services to those in need as well as providing advanced professional training to mental health practitioners in the field.

We offer a wide range of services including individual therapy, couple counselling, support and counselling services for groups, as well as training and supervision for professionals, community agencies.

Our programs are constantly monitored for quality assurance and continue to evolve to meet the needs of those we serve. With fully accredited and certified therapists, we are proud to provide services of the highest calibre in the field.

Our history

The Argyle Institute was established in 1982 by a group of professionals dedicated to the psychological well being of the community, with the dual purpose of offering excellent psychotherapy services as well as providing advanced training to professionals in the field.

Since then, the Argyle has grown to nearly 600 affiliates, offering couple and family therapy in addition to individual psychotherapy programs with sliding-scale fees, servicing over 1,200 clients per year. In addition to developing an eating disorder clinic, the Argyle is in the process of creating more on-line support groups to help out with realities such as as anxiety and grief, relationship issues, substance abuse, job or business loss, ADD, just to name a few

Governance Information

The Argyle is governed by a board of directors made up of volunteers who support our mission. We are committed to the highest standards of service and training. Today, the core mission of the Argyle is to continue to offer excellence in psychotherapy & training at affordable rates.

The Argyle Institute of Human Relations is a not-for-profit organization, recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency as a Registered Charity. The affairs of the Argyle are managed by a board of directors with members from both within the organization and community members from outside the Argyle. Directors are elected annually in the fall by the Annual General Meeting of members for two-year terms, which may be renewed twice. According to the Bylaws, Officers include a President, a Vice-President, a Past-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer and members at large.
